1 review for USB Passthrough – Variable Voltage

  1. KiwieCig.co.nz: Review With Jimbo
eGo Passthrough – Variable Voltage USB
Disclaimer: Unlike other e-cig companies, Kiwi eCigs instructed me not to recycle and rip off other reviews and talk bollocks. All products they stock are useful; nevertheless, being good buggers they want you to make an informed choice. Moreover, China is the primary manufacturing base for 99% of electronic cigarette items, which can make the quality of certain products like batteries and USB inconsistent. Nevertheless, should you need a replacement they have an excellent returns policy.

I bought the eGo Passthrough – Variable Voltage USB at the end of last year and bar a few niggles I liked it; indeed, I would still have one if I had not stood on it. Hence, let us look at some of the Pros and Cons this product has, so you can decide if it’s for you.
    Pros
    • If your batteries are either charging, or have gone to that big battery heaven in the sky. This is a handy tool to vape with if you are a student, writer, designer, code cruncher, or gamer and spend a lot of time nearby a USB source. Never having to worry about charging a battery is damn funky.

    • The variable voltage button is cool. When adjusting the voltage just give four little taps to the ignition button. It lets you know you have gone up an amp by changing colour. There are four voltage settings, 3V, 3.6, 4.2, 4.8. Trust me, I did not just read them off the product description (I really didn’t).

    • The four feet length of the USB cord gives a measure of maneuverability other pass-through don’t have.

    • The attachment head accepts all types of clearomisers stocked at Kiwi eCigs. The best type of clearomiser for this product tends to be those with a bottom coil like an MT3 Evod (for example).

Keep the above goodness in mind as we check out the Cons.
    Cons
    • If you are using a top coil, clearomiser, like an Ego CE4, or an Iclear 16 (even though the latter has the atomizer and wicks fitted from beneath). Everyone knows with top coil clearomisers, it is always good to leave them straight up, not on their side when not in use.

The reason being the gaps in the wicks can fill with fluid. This interferes with the airflow, and if unlucky can crisp your atomizer. It also wastes fluid. If you are using the above products always, make sure you either detach the clearomiser when not in use. That, or ensure the clearomiser is placed in an upwards direction.

    • While the cord is useful when you are stationary/seated if you are vaping using a laptop/tablet while lying down, or in a car it is a bit of a bitch. There is simply too much cord and could be shortened by a foot. Hence, it is also potentially dangerous. One could trip over it, or get it needlessly tangled up (which often happens). This last point could be bloody serious in a vehicle.
    Conclusion
Overall, this is a handy product if your batteries are down, or you are sedentary with a bit of space. Always try to keep your clearomisers on a straight angle; furthermore, with a slight lessening of the cords length (in future variants) the product may be more appropriate for use with laptops/tablets, cars, etc.,
